So we are are about to start our 2011/12 EPL Season and we have some team news by @JamieDoddsTS on twitter – #AFC team to face #NUFC Szczesny, Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Gibbs, Song, Ramsey, Rosicky, Arshavin, Gervinho, Van Persie.

In all honesty this is a pretty strong team and we should easily be able to come away from Newcastle with 3 points in the bag.

Gervinho has been given the number 25 formally vacated by Eboue showing signs he will be off next week.

Will be good to see the Combo of Arshavin, Gervinho and RVP up top with real pace on each wing and all very creative players, should be an interesting game.

Common You Gooners!

Break Of Silence // Imminent Departures and Incomings // Season Ready To Rumble by Alex-Forty-Nine

Good Afternoon Gooners and Goonerettes, Thanks for still reading my ramblings as usual.

So i start of by saying that im about to break my code of silence regarding the what it seems imminent departure of Cesc Fabregas. So its being reported by many that Cesc is on the verge of completing his dream move back to Barcelona for a fee of initially starting off at £29million with £4million add-ons due to performances and bonuses and so on with a further £4million paid over 5 years out of Cesc’s pocket himself to lock the deal finally, the latter which i doubt but you never know.

Its clear to all Arsenal fans that Cesc doesn’t want to play for Arsenal anymore, regardless of some of his excellent performances throughout last season, it remained clear his thoughts weren’t with Arsenal and they were clearly on trying to form a deal which would see him move to Barcelona.

Theres no doubt that i am saddened by the thought of losing Cesc but in the manner of which Barcelona have gone about in the past 2-3 years of blatant tapping and de-stabilising the thoughts of Fabregas are disgusting and thats the only thing i will be happy to see the end of. Losing Cesc is massive, there is a split view in most fans of coursed some understand some dont, some furious at it, im somewhere in-between. Cesc isn’t certainly irreplaceable as we all know that no player is bigger than the club at Arsenal but it will be a major loss if the money isn’t reinvested in the right places with the right players, having said that we only have roughly 3 weeks to do so. I just hope that Wenger has already lined up the replacements and is awaiting to receive the money gained from the sell of Cesc to instantly inject into purchasing replacements in the correct areas.

So far we have had the likes of Mata being constantly linked with a move to Arsenal, after supposedly breaking down in talks with Valencia although a fee had been agreed they eventually hesitated and decided to reject it, this can only mean Arsenal have them blinking and possibly with a little higher bid made it could well make them accept it and stick to it knowing how much in debt the club are in. Another name doing the rounds today is Brazilian born Jadson who currently plays his trade in the Ukrainian league for Shakhtar. In my honest opinion the only time i saw him was in the UCL games against us, and he seems a bit too agile to play his trade in the English Premier League, and of course him being only 5″5 or something like that doesn’t make it an even more welcome considering we are a small team in the first place. Jadson is a centre midfielder by trade and likes to link play with the striker, i really dont understand the need to by another small centre mid with the likes of Wilshere, Song and Ramsey already that dont posses a great deal of height.

Hmm...

Ive been told that the Scott Dann signing which i said in yesterdays post would prove a massive bargain at the reported fee of only £6million considering we payed up to £8million for the ever so daft services of Squid. Ive also been told that Arsenal wouldnt be done with defensive signings due to the mass amount of injurys we’ve collected over the past weeks, and Wenger is willing to buy a further addition being a Centre Back possibly Gary Cahill as i hear Bolton are now willing to take a Player + Cash deal with the possibility of that player in exchange being Squid.

So on that note with all the Transfer in’s and out’s we now await for the big kick off against Newcastle this saturday only a day away! Our midfield is slimming as time goes on so it will be interesting to see what type of team we field for the upcoming game.

Also on a quick note anyone with any suggestions for pre-drinks for the UCL Qualifier against Udinese next Tuesday would be much appreciated, would be nice to get some down my neck with a few Gooners before witnessing a nervy game.

Yours Goonerly.

Well well well, where do i start todays blog from all the antics i endured yesterday throughout the day and evening, quite exhausted wont lie.

Enfield Shall Remain Safe!

It began yesterday at around 4Pm when i got a few calls involving some Rioters/Looters/Arsonists whatever you wish to call them preparing to start again on Enfield Town. As ive pretty much been disgusted with what ive witnessed over the past few days and having a few Family and Friend’s businesses being torn away in front of their very own eyes i took it upon myself to organise a group of friends, not vigilantes as it has been reported and neither the White T-Shirt group. We were simply a group of which started around 20-30 people, all of which have grown up in the North London area and mainly of Enfield Town. We started off by driving around the likes of Enfield Town, Palmers Green, Winchmore Hill and Southgate on the lookout of these “Looters” lets just say. We work in collaboration with the police force throughout the night and we were able in the end to hand over around 35+ Youths to the police force. We did not go out to look to just, how do i put this, Kick the living daylights out of them, but we wanted to help the police do what they are doing, and provide another outlet of defence for them. Our group quickly grew and we heard of more that have joined together in Enfield Town outside The George pub.

We felt what we done was minimal but it gave us a feel of justice as we began to protect our community and feel we helped a little bit in whichever way we could. On the plus side we can say that in total there were no further disturbances in Enfield Town and other areas last night and that gives me joy. Would also like to say that for everyone following myself on twitter i would like to say a big thank you for all your praise messages and your thank you’s it meant a lot.

Moving on from what this site is really for and it being an Arsenal Blog!

I would like to say im delighted by the signing of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a young Winger formerly from Southampton now signed by Arsenal. A lot of rumours doing the going around of the initial fee we have paid for the Services of Alex, from what i gather though it is an initial payment of £7million and a possible increase to £12million which the £5million bonus add-ons consist of. A lot of Arsenal fans are still quite agitated at the summer transfer and Arsenal F.C as we haven’t invested truly in our real problem, the Defence.

Alex Ready To Step Up..

With Alex i think we have a truly promising young english winger/forward. at the age of only 17 he still has a long way ahead of him. Many have described him as a Theo Walcott but with the footballing brain, thats a positive statement!
He consists of a lot of pace and skill with an eye for goal, we shall see how many times he will get to feature in the Arsenal team this upcoming season, but with the likes of Eboue, Gervinho and Chamakh off for the ANC (African Nations Cup) im sure he will get a few chances hearing there, as well as also being placed straight into the first team and has begun training with the squad already.

Some more positive news to come out from an Arsenal perspective is that we have been able to secure a work permit for Ryo Miyaichi, allowing him to stay with Arsenal for the season and play wearing the glory Red and White.

A Quote from Arsenal.com – Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that Ryo Miyaichi has been granted the work permit he requires to play first-team football for the Club this season.

In other team news, rumours are gathering pace that we are in for Scott Dann for a reported for of £6million and at that price is a massive bargain comparing to the £17million fee Bolton want for Gary Cahill a player in the last year of his contract, we shall see where that goes.

Thats all from me for now – Going to decide if its needed to go out and Protect The Community once again tonight – Will let you know on that.

Thanks again for all your messages on Twitter, very much appreciated.

Yours Goonerly.

Emirates Cup Comes To An End // Whats Next? by Alex-Forty-Nine

Bore Draws...

Good afternoon Gooners and Goonerettes, i hope all are enjoying the lovely bit of sunshine we are getting in the UK.

I’m going to start off today on my thoughts of Game at the Emirates Cup i attended yesterday and as we enter the final 12 days of pre-season until the new season officially kicks off.

So as i entered the Emirates yesterday only to realise i was seated next to the loudest bunch of Boca Junior fans within the Emirates, yes the ones with the Umbrellas and Drums, after at first it started to induce a pounding headache i got used to it after a while and started to think, if only we were like that, their team were 2-0 down at the point and they were still singing proudly and loud, PSG bagged another goal, 3-0 down and it spurred them on to get even louder, it was quite something to see, was very inspiring! Makes you wonder if the Emirates was filled of 50 odd thousand Arsenal supporters apart from the 4-5 thousand away fans of similar sort to those Boca fans the atmosphere would be electric and certainly make it a fortress in which the opposition would dread to come and play at.

Heres a quick video clip above of the crazy Boca fans seated near me, one thing i felt sorry for, there were three older Arsenal Fans in the middle of them all. All in all they were quite inspiring and im having thoughts of purchasing and Drum for the upcoming season to take to the Emirates =P.

Moving on, it was great to see the great Thierry Henry make a return back to the Emirates and the Arsenal fans didn’t shy away from the appreciation of his return at all, was nice to see him back albeit not in an Arsenal shirt but the was all in good terms. So with the game against New York Redbulls ending in a 1 all draw and seeing them lift the Emirates cup this year and hearing the boo boys at the end of the game it was a great show to watch. There were some positives from the game to take away though, the emergence of RVP scoring in both Cup games is something to look forward to as the season approaches. Rosicky is also impressing me of late, stepping up in that role in the centre of midfield, really taking control of each game and also coming out of it with an assist for RVP’s goal. Afobe had to make an early entrance to the game with Wilshere going off due to a tweak he felt in his ankle. Afobe impressed with his blistering pace and linked up well with all the Arsenal players, Vermaelen and Kos looked solid as usual and Gervinho impressed again with his speed although he should have bagged his one on one chance. As we let in once again a late goal and the game finished, the Boo’s started and it was once again an all familiar event to see at Arsenal without being able to see out a game who in all honesty was against quite a poor NYR team.

Our incapability to break down a parked bus is something we have struggled with, during the Emirates Cup and all of last season, we have no plan b with RVP on the pitch, Chamakh to be honest is very poor of late and doesn’t seem to be getting any better and showing us what we know he can be like. I still feel we need a Centre Back or two maybe a cover DM and a striker or AM. Nasri has played all pre-season games in the Central role and in my view he hasn’t impressed at all, he is far more of a threat on the wing. It just proves that without Cesc our midfield really can’t operate to the maximum we have seen before and with Nasri in the central role it is all too predictable and stale.

There is now 12 days until the start of the premier league and it was announced today that Joey Barton has been placed on the transfer list for a free. This leaves our first game against Newcastle away, which should result in an easy win as over the past few months they have lost the spine of their team being Nolan, Carol and now possibly Barton. They look to be set for a bad start to their season. I expect no less than 3 points from our opener and anything less will be quite disappointing.

We shall see what happens in the remainder of the 12 days leading up to the kick off of the 2011/12 season and if we will bring in any new additions, im hoping its done pretty soon as we only have one pre-season friendly left against Benfica on Saturday and it would mean there would be hardly any time for new additions to blend in.

Thats all today from Forty-Nine.

I’ll update on any new transfer possibilities as soon as i get my sources confirmed.

Yours Goonerly.

Mata En-Route To Emirates… // Chelsea’s Alex Linked by Alex-Forty-Nine

Forever linked

Good Evening Gooners and Goonerettes

Hope everyone is well during the craziest transfer window in a while. Seems as if the only top 4 teams that Haven’t spent is ourselves and Chelski, and with the latta not spending so far is a bit worrying. Mor importantly Arsenal Haven’t really spent much except for acquiring the services of a few youngsters and shifting out a few deadwood players so far.

So there is a lot of news going about the possibility of Arsenal signing Mata who has been linked with Arsenal for the duration of the Summer transfer window so far. The Daily Star report that the deal will be done within 24 hours and he should be due at the Emirates tomorrow –

JUAN Mata will sign for Arsenal in the next 24 hours.

Juan Mata, 23, has been strongly linked with a move away from Spain following his superb displays for Valencia last season.

The Spain international has attracted interest from a number of top sides across Europe but the north London rivals have emerged as the strong favourites to sign him.

The Daily Star also say that our scum neighbours are in for the services of the 23 year old Spaniard as well, but im pretty sure we all know who he would choose if it turns out to be as only ourselves and them to be in contention for the players signature. A move to the scum has also been reported that Mata has no desire at all to talk to them, Ha, and favours a move to the Emirates far more –

Juan Mata is very close to being Arsenal. If the transaction has not closed definitely still is because other two English clubs, one of which Tottenham have submitted in recent days pathways offers that are interesting enough for the player’s father, then a representative, is analyzing all the pros and cons of each.

The buyout clause is 20, but in reality the contract with the club Levante Mata lets trade their way out from 15 million. From this figure to 20 of the final compensation, Valencia can retain the player by scaling up the tab as the amount of supply and a total of 750,000 euros.

That statement was from Marca.com and has been translated hence the not so great english.

It will be interesting to see how this one pans out, i dont think i have to express how good i think this player is and it would be a great steal if we were to get him!

Next up doing the rumour mill is that we have apparently enquired about the services of Alex the Brazilian centre back playing for Chelsea. Alex still has 2 years left on his contract so i wonder how much he would cost, also knowing that Chelsea wouldnt really want to sell one of their players to Arsenal and especially a dominant centre back like Alex. I for one rate Alex and i actually rate all Chelsea’s centre backs apart from Terry, just cant rate a guy knowing how much of an a-hole he is. Alex would bring strenght, height and certainly experience to our back line and i would even rate him more than Jagielka and Samba.

Well thats all for today, dont forget to comment and so fourth will bring more to you wonderful people later on.

Yours Goonerly.

Mata // Cahill // Jagielka // Parker // Martinez by Alex-Forty-Nine

Must be your lucky day today, two posts in the space of 20 minutes.

Well so far Arsenal have been linked with untold players. Strikers, midfielders and defenders. Wenger surprised us all i think by coming out and saying –

Certainly, we will have to find one more defender,” he said. “We [are] working on it.

Quoted from Arsenal.com directly its something that confirms we all know we need a defender and apart from only conceding 2 goals in 3 games, i think Wenger has realised he needs to strengthen his defence even more, having lodged a bid for £10 million for Jagielka, which i think is a reasonable offer but Everton don’t sell cheap and they wouldn’t sell him for £10 million no chance at all. We have now placed a £12 million bid which is not even close to Everton’s £20 million valuation, total piss take also. Wenger is playing hard ball i reckon, showing Bolton there are other players we are in for, Having already confirmed we had a late bid for Jones accepted of around £16 million with add ons, a sign Wenger is ready to splash it but just playing the usual games every team do. With Cahill around £17 million Jageilka around £20 million, i reckon we will end up with Cahill and i think this hes the better choice out of the two. Although Cahill being younger both are fairly similar except Cahill possesses more height than Jagielka, which Arsenal are in dire need of. Were making Bolton sweat on this one knowing he is in his last year contract, and they will probably be forced into selling him for around £14 million nearer the season knowing they could well lose him for nothing come the summer of 2012.

moving on Mata rumours will not go away so maybe there is some real truth, i think we all know how much quality this guy attains its just the question if Wenger will dash up £23 odd million to acquire the services of this very talented Spaniard. Its only 19 days until the start of the season and Wenger needs to act fast for the player to be able to blend in and at least try to make an instant impact. Theres also rumours that we are in for Athletic Club de Bilbao’s star man Javi Martinez as a player also on Wenger’s wish-list for the summer and the possibility of buying Martinez and Mata, cants say ive seen much of Martinez myself but ive seen a lot of Mata, Mata would be a great buy and would certainly cheer us Gooners up a bit.

Mata of time?

The latest to hit the Rumour mill is Wenger has rekindled his interest in Scott Parker as he looks to bolster his centre midfield up a bit more, i actually admired him during the past season, being a massive stand out player and captain for West Ham and believe he would be a great addition to our squad, probably not the starting 11 though. He would bring a lot of passion with him to Arsenal which is something we also lack from our players and it has shower over the last quarter of the season having only won 3 games out of our last 18 or something like that, a terrible stat for a team like our Arsenal, makes me even wonder how we managed to finish fourth.

Another tit that has come out and admitted of trying to tap up a player of ours is that twat i actually regard as one of my top five hated players in the EPL, Evra. I actually hate the guy, and he makes my hate grow even higher by admitting he has tried to convince Nasri in joining him at Manure next season with quotes from The Guardian –

“I remember I made a little joke saying that he’s a prince now but if he wants to be the king then he has to join Man United,” Evra said in the Sun. “But that’s the reality – and I’ve told him that. I’ve said: ‘If you want to win trophies, you have to come here.’

“In five years, I’ve won 12 trophies and I don’t know if I’d have won more than that with another club. So I just told him the truth.”

This makes my blood boil and surely Arsene’s. if Nasri isn’t issued an ultimatum to sign i would flog him straight away to the highest bidder. End of that.

Thats all from the Rumour mill for now.

I also had a little chat with Eboue earlier today asking him about the rumours doing the rounds about him and he’s assured me he hasn’t heard any of it, But he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of leaving Arsenal at the moment as his position is being threatened by Jenkinson right now, Galatasary out of the question for him though.

Thats it for today my fellow Gooners and Goonerettes.

Yours Goonerly.

2-1 Final Score Arsenal v Cologne // Gervinho With Brace by Alex-Forty-Nine
25/07/2011, 17:37

Good Evening everyone, hope all is well. Sorry for not posting actively over the weekend was a crazy one for myself.

Lets begin with the Game on saturday. So having just rushed home from work and caught the game from 2 minutes onwards, first impressions on the whole, a good start by our Forward gervinho, no comment on the forehead literally!
He seems to have the instinct with his runs and has blistering pace, very direct for once and starts his Arsenal career off with two well taken goals. The midfield trio of Song,Wilshere and Ramsey is growing on me every time i watch them. Its fair to see the first half Arsenal 11 had much more pace within the side and is far more impressive than our second half Arsenal 11. I enjoyed watching the less experienced Midfield with the Better defence in place i should add excluding Sagna, it allowed the attack of Arsenal to be more expressive and explosive when attacking not worrying so much if they had the likes of squid and Djourou behind them. The second half team were dreadful to watch apart from Arshavin, which if i must be honest has impressed be a lot during pre-season, looking much fitter and sharper already which is good to see considering how important the silent russian assassin is to our player. It is widely never taken into consideration what he does due to the lack of his work-rate sometimes which is understandable. Gervinho started for Arsenal and having only spent 30 minutes on the pitch in total, scored two goals and that will start him off with a nice confidence boost, great start in my view.  his runs behind the defenders were well timed and his direct play will prove a good factor for Arsenal in the coming season.

30 Minutes 2 Goals Lovely Jubly...

Going back to the second half team,  we showed no real urgency and without any real pace in the team we really did look abismal to watch, no real plan at all hardly kept possession and really didn’t threat the opposition goalkeeper except for Arshavin’s chances. It looked like we didn’t have a plan b and without any pace we looked clueless which also leads me to the point that without any pacy players in the Arsenal team we could struggle against any team and look rather Average.

The game ended 2-1 which we were quite lucky with IMO a good result as Cologne did test our defence quite a bit and a wonder own goal from Jenkinson, which is very unlucky but will be good to see how he reacts to it in the next game. It was nice to also see Nasri and Sagna consoling him at the half time break.

Its still evident that we do need a top notch Centre Half and i think Wenger also knows it, with the rumour mill doing its round im sure the silence will be broken in the coming weeks and Arsenal will announce a new signing perhaps before the Emirates Cup if were lucky.

A team slightly better than Cologne would not have walked away with that game losing thats for sure.

Thats that for this post.

Yours Goonerly.
